Plum Crumble Bars
I have an overwhelming surplus of plums in my yard, so prepare for many plum recipes to be thrown your way. The first of many are these Plum Crumble Bars. In all honesty I was expecting these to be ok, but not my favorite. To…
Real Food. Real Health. Real Life.
Staying hydrated is the most important thing for summer. The heat can really get to people and cause major health problems. I live in a place where we frequent triple digits in the summer months. Constantly having water throughout the day keeps me from getting…
Korean Beef tugs at my heart in all its glorious forms. Whether it be in a taco (you know I’m a sucker for those), or on some rice, I’ll eat it all. And I do mean all.
This Korean Beef I stick in the crock pot because those contraptions are the best invention known to people who want a load of flavor but don’t have a load of time to spend developing those flavors. Plus, I can only eat meat when it’s tender. Give me a dry or tough piece of meat and prepare to see angry face. I just can’t deal with that!
This beef surely is neither of those things. It’s nothing but fabulous and I want to eat it all the time. Even now just thinking about it while writing this post. So let’s get to it shall we?
Try it with these Korean Beef Sweet Potato Noodle Bowls.
These bowls give me so much joy. They’re a perfect mixture of comforting and refreshing. I can’t even describe how much I love these things. The combination of Korean Beef and runny eggs is a perfect 10 in my book. Sheeesh I’m getting hungry right…
Chips, chips, chips. I could eat them all! A guilty pleasure of my husband and I are salt and vinegar chips. Why are they so freaking good?! They burn my tongue in the best way. Weird to say, but it’s true. There’s no way I…
I used to be one of those people that would lay in the sun with tanning oil on just to get a nice golden glow. I wouldn’t wear sunscreen for the first 30 minutes to an hour in the sun, then put on SPF 15 or 30 depending on how late in the season it was. I would fry my skin and get a sunburn multiple times a year. Now, my skin game has changed. I’m a skin freak. I wear sunscreen every day to keep those rays off of my face and hands (check out our post on Natural vs. Chemical Sunscreen here). And wear hats if I’m going to be outside. Definitely not trying to have wrinkles galore on either of those areas.
I may be part Latina and tan easily, but my skin is white AF. I need as much help as I can in the summer to get a tan, correction, appear to have a tan if I stay out of the sun. And with as often as I’m at the lake, I need it to not look orange and streaky. I’ve tried every tanning product over the years, and I keep coming back to St. Tropez Mousse. There is nothing that beats this stuff. It’s comparable to a spray tan, and as a busy mom, I don’t always have time to get a spray tan. The St. Tropez Mousse allows me to give myself a tan in 5 minutes from home once a week. That’s all it takes!
Typically, I’d avoid any skin products that aren’t natural, but with St. Tropez’s products being clean and the mousse only registering a 6 on the EWG scale, it’s a great choice and great product. It’s incredibly lightweight to the point where it doesn’t feel like you have tanner on, and if you get the marshmallow (Ulta exclusively carries marshmallow) or watermelon one (mousse not sold in the U.S…yet), you’ll enjoy the smell. No gross self-tanner smell here. Most organic self-tanners that give a decent color only last about 3 days. I don’t have time nor do I want to tan that often. St. Tropez Mousse lasts me 7 days and sometimes longer if I moisturize twice a day and keep my showers warm rather than hot.
I also love that it’s the perfect tan color for any skin type. I have more yellow undertones and I don’t look orange at all after using St. Tropez. I made my husband try it for the purpose of this post (if that’s not love, I don’t know what is) and he’s naturally tan (whatever, it’s great to look at but makes me jealous) with red undertones and it looks great on him as well.
To achieve a perfect glow, I shave the morning I want to put on product as well as exfoliate well. That night, I’ll exfoliate again. Once out of the shower I’ll moisturize my elbows, knees, ankles, fingers and toes. This will help to avoid product building up in those areas and looking uneven. I’ll then apply two generous coats over all areas, but will only put one coat of what’s reserved on the mitt (the mitt is key) following application on my feet and hands. I’ll then put a half pump into my moisturizer and apply to my face. Wash your hands immediately being sure not to wash the back of your hands. Let the product dry completely before getting dressed. Sleep in the product and rinse off in the shower the next morning, but do not shave. Be sure to moisturize well and throughout the week to keep yourself looking tan and beautiful all week long.
It does look best on the second day, so if you’re tanning for an event make sure you plan for two days ahead.
Give this healthy tan a go. Wear that sunscreen, wear those hats, and keep your skin looking young and beautiful.
